THE ORGANI ZATI ONAL SETTI NG
The ICAO Middle East Regional Office (MID) is primarily responsible for maintaining continuous liaison with the States to which it is accredited and with appropriate organizations, regional civil aviation bodies and sub-regional bodies and United Nations (UN) Agencies and programmes. MID ensures interregional coordination and promotes the timely and harmonized implementation of ICAO policies, decisions, Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) and air navigation plans. The Regional Office also provides technical guidance and assists States with implementation.
The ICT Assistant is responsible for effective installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. S/he will assist with technical issues in the implementation phases of our standard Project Management Methodology. These activities include the implementation plan that will minimize the impact on users, support of operations, testing and rolling-out the solutions. Participation on projects is focused on providing support for production and operations activities within the project life-cycle.

QUALI FI CATI ONS AND EXPERI ENCE
Educati onal background
Secondary education is required. A Systems Administration/System Engineer certification in Unix and Microsoft is desirable.

Fluent reading, writing and speaking abilities in English and Arabic.
Desirable
Knowledge of any of the following languages of the Organization (Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) is desirable. Working knowledge of one of the local languages within the Region is considered an advantage.

CONDI TI ONS OF EMPLOYMENT
It should be noted that this post is to be filled on a fixed-term basis for an initial period of three years (first year is probationary for an external candidate). ICAO staff members are international civil servants subject to the authority of the Secretary General and may be assigned to any activities or offices of the Organization within the duty station.
ICAO staff members are expected to conduct themselves in a manner befitting their status as international civil servants. In this connection, ICAO has incorporated the 2001 Standards of Conduct for the International Civil Service into the ICAO Personnel Instructions. ICAO offers an attractive benefit package to its employees in accordance with the policies of the International Civil Service Commission (ICSC).
The statutory retirement age for staff entering or re-entering service after 1 January 2014 is 65. For external applicants, only those who are expected to complete a term of appointment will normally be considered. Remuneration: Level Net Base Salary per annum G-5 EGP 89,679
