Background
In contribution to the fulfilment of international, regional and national gender equality and empowerment of women policy and legal frameworks such as the Beijing Platform for Action, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) the Millennium Development Goals ( MDGs), the UNDP Gender Equality Strategy 2014-2017, the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) Gender and Development Protocol, the AU Protocol on the Rights of Women, the Zimbabwe Constitution, the Zimbabwe Agenda for Sustainable Socio-Economic Transformation
(ZIM-ASSET), the Broad Based Women's Economic Empowerment Framework ( BBWEF), the Zimbabwe United Nations Development Assistance Framework ( ZUNDAF) 2012-2015, the Ministry of Women Affairs, Gender and Community Development ( WAGCD), with support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is implementing a project entitled 'Strengthening the National Gender Machinery in Zimbabwe.' The project seeks to assist the MWAGCD in playing its coordination mandate in promoting gender equality and women empowerment in Zimbabwe through amongst others, supporting the participation of women in decision making, increasing women's economic opportunities and gender sensitive legislative and policy formulation. The project is in its final year of implementation and requires a coordinator to see the project through its cycle, ensuring implementation of outstanding activities as well as documenting best practices and lessons learned from the project.
