1 Specific deliverables:
  • Manage the market shaping strategy development for Gavi portfolio vaccines consistent with Gavi's Supply and Procurement Strategy and other Board approved strategies and policies;
  • Establish target outcomes for each vaccine strategy and a corresponding set of interventions and evaluation criteria;
  • Report on progress against outcomes, interventions and evaluation criteria;
  • Lead Gavi Secretariat involvement in the market shaping and procurement aspects of the Gavi Board recommendations on Accelerating Access to Ebola Vaccines, including manufacturing negotiations;
  • Be a thought partner to the Head of Market Shaping on strategy setting and support on other initiatives as required.
Main duties/ Responsibilities:
  • Work collaboratively with the market shaping team, other Secretariat teams and Alliance stakeholders to develop and document an evidence-based market shaping strategy for Gavi portfolio vaccines including prioritisation of supply and procurement objectives, portfolio considerations, identification of an exit strategy and consideration for countries graduating from Gavi support;
  • Translate the strategy into target outcomes for each vaccine and the portfolio of Gavi vaccines. Establish, prioritise and document interventions supporting each outcome and identify the parties responsible for implementing of each intervention;
  • Manage implementation of a portion of the interventions;
  • Lead the delivery of the Gavi Board recommendations on Accelerating Access to Ebola Vaccines pertaining to vaccine procurement and production and to preparedness for future Ebola outbreaks, including: - Being autonomous in leading negotiations with manufacturers; - Representation on working groups; - Engaging with donors and other key stakeholders on market shaping items;
  • Systematically track the evolution of the environment, strategy or outcomes with input from the market shaping team and partners and adjust strategies and target outcomes as required;
  • Ensure coordination and follow-up among partner agencies on the interventions. Establish and implement a monitoring and evaluation framework for execution of the strategy;
  • Other activities as necessary in support of Gavi Market Shaping objectives.
Academic:
  • Undergraduate degree in Economics, Business Administration, Public Health or related field;
  • Postgraduate degree as above would be an asset.
Work experience
Essential:
  • A minimum of 15 years work experience in the following areas: - Vaccine or pharmaceutical marketing, business development, customer management, strategic planning/market analysis in a pharmaceutical, consulting and/or healthcare setting;
Preferred:
  • Product management experience at country, regional or global level in pharmaceuticals and health products;
  • Public health programme experience;
  • Developing country experience;
  • Experience in vaccine industry;
  • Partner management experience.
Skills/ Competencies:
  • Knowledge of international public health agencies;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong influencing skills;
  • Attuned to process as well as outcomes;
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment and establish harmonious working relationships, both within and outside the organization;
  • Able to work independently, under pressure, demonstrating initiative and flexibility.
Languages:
  • Fluency in English is required;
  • Another European language would be an asset.
