HR Assistant, Iraq - (MENA Region), Erbil (National Staff only)

The overall objective is to: HR Assistant supports the HR Manager in all HR related issues and daily works.

Who are we?
The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) has been present in Iraq since April 2003 with operations in Diyalla Governorate north-east of Baghdad and has since opened offices in Basra governorate (April 2004), and in the governorates of Erbil, Missan, Kerbala and Wassit (September 2007). Regionally, DRC is also present in Syria, Jordan, Turkey and Lebanon.
The overall objective for DRC in Iraq is the protection and promotion of durable solutions to displacement affected populations on the basis of humanitarian principles and human rights with more immediate objectives focusing both on the immediate subsistence needs, livelihood and self-reliance support as well as a more long term focus on capacity building and environment building. DRC's intervention in Iraq is increasingly focused on the Syrian refugee populations in Erbil and Dohuk governorates of the Kurdish Region of Iraq (KRI). DRC adopts a community-based approach, where beneficiaries and local authorities are included in the prioritizing, planning and implementation of activities as an important measure of rehabilitation and capacity building.

Duties
Under the overall supervision of the HR Manager, the HR Assistant will have the following duties and responsibilities:
  • Assist in preparation of Contracts and ToR for National Staff
  • Assist in preparation timely contract amendments, termination letters and certificates of employment
  • Assist staff induction training on Code of Conduct, Confidentiality, Conflict of Interest, etc.
  • Ensure that all staff personnel files are properly maintained and regularly updated
  • Monitor, regulate and supervise the daily attendance of employees according to timesheets
  • Assist in preparation of monthly payroll
  • Assist in proper management of working hours, overtime, annual leave, official holiday, etc.
  • Assist HR Manager in recruitment procedures
  • Assist HR manager in following up the updating of contact list.
  • Assist the HR manager in conducting regular induction sessions.
  • Assist the HR manager in following up the visas status of expat staff.
  • Assist the HR manager in following up the staff appraisal process.
  • Assist the HR manager in following up the premises rental contracts.
  • Any other related task assigned by line manager
This position is Line Managed by HR Manager.
About you: To be successful in this role you should have the following qualifications and competencies:Qualification
Essential
  • Relevant university degree or similar education
  • Minimum of two (3) year experience in Admin and HR position, experience in the NGO sector is an asset
  • Knowledge of local (labour) laws and regulations
Professional Attributes
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Ability to prioritise large and changeable workload
  • Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • Able to work independently and energetically
Competencies
  • Good computer skills (especially MS Word and Excel)
  • Fluent in spoken and written Kurdish and English
  • Arabic desirable
We offer
An interesting job in one of the best NGO's in the world. DRC will offer the successful applicant a contract until December 31, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start to work from by 22nd February 2015 and be willing and able to work in Erbil. Salary and conditions are in accordance with DRC Iraq's Terms of Employment for National Staff.
